The journey so far

Continest products have been deployed by Cube Modular throughout the pandemic. With units supplied to the DHSC for use as Vaccination Pods, Laboratories and Drive through Testing Centres.

Cube Modular has also delivered its products to numerous events and sporting venues since the relationship began including: Harlequins Rugby Club, Oval Cricket Ground, pilot Nightclub event in Liverpool, multiple Euro 2020 stadiums and most recently Formula E at London’s Excel.

Formula E, London E-Prix

Cube showcased its sustainable temporary portable building solution at ABB FIA Formula E World Championship event, the 2021 Heineken London E-Prix.

Cube, appointed by Formula E due to its unique Continest temporary building solution, delivered and installed race infrastructure for the event during the 10 days leading up to the event. The Continest solution used, ideal for event organisers looking to meet sustainability targets, brings temporary facilities and accommodation solutions to events in an easy to set up and environmentally conscious way. Utilising innovative foldable container technology, multiple units can be transported on a single truck, enabling significant reductions in road haulage costs and carbon emissions. The units, fully modular in nature, can also be joined together to form multiple configurations, including multi-storey buildings.

For London E-Prix, the first international race series to race on an indoor/outdoor circuit, Cube built a specially designed two storey race control building, situated overlooking the start/finish line to ensure all stewards/marshals have a clear view of the race’s start & finish. In total, Cube supplied more than 100 units across all areas of the venue, to include race control, medical centres, a PCR test centre and lab, accreditation units and media and TV compounds. Access challenges to certain areas were overcome by the foldable nature of the Continest container units.

Due to the innovative foldable container design only 13 trucks were needed to transport the units, rather than the 65 that would have been required for standard containers. This resulted in an 80% reduction in transport carbon emissions and makes the product a sustainable temporary portable building solution.

Looking ahead

Cube Modular and Continest’s relationship continues to flourish and the two companies have worked together to design bespoke Merchandising Units and Box Offices that incorporate the innovative technology. They are also currently developing a 20 room Event Hotel that can be delivered on two trucks for the 2022 event season.
