The National Outdoor Event Association will give event professionals a first look at its forthcoming Training Day at The Showman’s Show, with a special in-the-round session bringing together experts from across events, policing, licensing, medical provision, and security.
Taking place at midday on Day Two, the session will provide a practical update on some of the issues shaping event delivery, including Protect Duty / Martyn’s Law, Safety Advisory Groups and the changing responsibilities facing organisers and suppliers.
The session forms part of a wider programme of NOEA activity across the show. On Day One, colleagues from the Event Medical Association will host a meet and greet at the Meetings Tent from 12.30–14.00, bringing together new and existing members to discuss the issues affecting medical provision across events.
On Day Two, the Training Day Taster will bring together a range of industry voices including Rob Walley of Controlled Events, Superintendent Steve Fosher Head of NaTSCO, Solicitor Philip Day, Alysha Sargent of Barnstorm Events, Katie Miller of MB Medical Solutions and Adrian Hodgson of LAEOG, and Oliver Gardiner, Vespasian Security.
The session will take place in the round at midday, with conversations taking place on a central table and with the surrounding audience encouraged to become part of the discussion. Protect Duty / Martyn’s Law will form the central part of the session, addressing what preparation should mean in practice, where responsibilities sit and how organisers can demonstrate that appropriate thinking and planning have taken place.
The Taster is designed to give visitors useful insight on the day while introducing the thinking behind NOEA’s dedicated Training Day, which will take place in spring 2027. The Training Day, which is supported by GL Events, Qdos and the Showman’s Show, will provide a deeper level of practical professional development across the disciplines that shape safe, resilient and successful events.
Alongside the Event Medical Association session on Day One, the programme gives NOEA members and the wider industry two opportunities to meet, learn and exchange knowledge during The Showman’s Show.
